The formation of some ceramic powders (BaTiO3, PZT, BaMgAl10O17, WC) under a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) mode in the fusion salts of alkali metals (NaCl, KCl, Na2WO4, NaBO2, etc.) were investigated. The effects of molten salts on the combustion parameters, product morphology and composition were evaluated using a thermocouple technique, transmission and scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. It was shown that the fusion of alkali metal salts in the combustion wave leads to the formation of unagglomerated powder with a desired shape and size (including nanodimension) and also positively effects the electro-physical properties (dielectric constant, emission intensity) of oxide ceramics. These results are discussed in the context of the features of molten salts.
