Abstract
Mixtures of MgO-TiO2 powders were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill for a time interval from 0 to 120 minutes. The influence of the mechanical activation on the phase composition and crystal structure have been analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), while the effect of the activation and sintering process on the microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Using the data obtained from XRD microstructural parameters, the volume averaged crystallite size (D), the density of dislocations (ρD) and the lattice strain (ehkl) values were calculated. Dielectric measurements were performed in order to show the variations in the dielectric constant as a function of the time of mechanical activation
